With consumers expecting more from their products, we redefined our connected product approach. I led the development of the ‘Product With Services’ global strategy, product roadmap, and enterprise adoption that enabled +1B products a year to be engaged with by consumers, via a unique digital identifier.
The enablement of consumers connecting to their product and proving them with a service or experience, led to the ability to tell deeper individual product stories, increase new membership to our digital ecosystem, protection from counterfeit and cost savings for sustainability efforts by reducing access marketing material on product.
Product With Services Pilots
NBA Connected Jersey
To innovate on the 8 year NBA x Nike partnership we enabled NBA jerseys globally with NFC chips on the joker tags. Once a consumer connected to their jersey via the NikeConnect App, it would open an experience that brought consumers closer to the game by giving away free tickets, showcasing highlights of their favorite player or team, and unlocking in-game player boosts in NBA2K video game via a cross platform partnership.
NikeConnect AF1
As a second test and point of validation, we created a new NikeConnect AF1 QS NYC footwear model with an embedded NFC chip on the heal. The experience was geo fenced to NYC, and when consumers connected to their AF1 shoe, they gained access to exclusive product drops, events around NYC, and special AF1 content.
